U4 Hamburg

First prize in a non-open, structural engineering design competition with a preliminary application procedure and subsequent commissioning; participation in a team with netzwerkarchitekten Darmstadt and Dr. Kreutz und Partner (structural design).

Characteristic lines shape the identity of the three stops “Horner Rennbahn”, “Stoltenstraße” and “Dannerallee” and clearly mark the individual platform areas.
LED light profiles with a comfortable surface luminance are recessed into the ceiling and walls without edges and flush with the surface, creating a uniform rhythm that structures the space with a high recognition value while also providing the necessary functional lighting.
On the floor, a coating with high light reflection properties picks up the graphic line motif and completes the room brackets with their perspective effect.

The architecturally formulated contrast between the raw track area and the high-quality platform is reinforced with homogeneous monochromatic track area lighting:
Linear LED profile luminaires, extremely wide-beam with individually adjustable coloured light (RGB technology) set the scene and individualize the raw concrete surfaces.
Station-specific motifs selected with reference to the urban localization of the stop are projected onto the track area walls using white light and gobo technology, creating further differentiation and memorable lighting moments for passengers!
