Jahnplatz Bielefeld
New light for Jahnplatz, the surrounding traffic routes and for the new bus stop canopies. Special luminaire development of the cable pendant luminaire “Night sun”.
The Jahnplatz forms one of the central inner-city squares and an important junction in the urban fabric of Bielefeld. With the diverse use by pedestrians, cyclists and motorized traffic, a complex urban space with different demands and safety aspects is created. The planned reduction in lanes reduces the speed of road users, and the axis between the new and old town for passers-by is strengthened. The aim of the redesign of the cycle paths, squares and bus stop roofs is to increase the quality of stay.
The lighting concept must respond to the different demands of the individual groups of road users. This creates differentiated lighting zones. Motorized traffic needs uniform and functional lighting. In the pedestrian zone with the axis Bahnhofsstraße and Niederwall/Niedernstraße, the quality of stay can be increased by atmospheric and smaller-scale lighting. With the targeted use and distinction of uniform and directed light, the play with mounting heights and illuminance levels, a lively lighting effect is created and the overall structure can be read. This has a positive effect on the orientation of passers-by and strengthens the independence of Jahnplatz in the inner-city spatial structure.
